23. joulukuuta - 23rd of December

Tänään virittäydyimme joulun tunnelmaan. Yhdessä lasten kanssa koristelimme kuusen, katoimme pöydän aamua varten yms. Tämä on ollut mukava päivä!

Today we have been getting into Christmas feeling. Together with my girls we have been decorating our Christmas tree, and setting the dinner table for the tomorrow morning etc. This has been a wonderful day!

22. joulukuuta - 22nd of December

Tänään oli joulujuhla ja pari päivää vapaata koitti viimein... Tontut odottavat kaljuina, eivätkä ota valmistuakseen. Tänään tein kuitenkin joulupöytäämme neljä kaitaliina. Sentäs jotain! Ompelukoneen kannoin jo ruokaerkkeristä pois. Eli nyt kone saa luvan olla muutaman päivän toimettomana.
Aloitin myös tyttärelleni neulomaan villasukkia, saas nähdä valmistuvatko ne aatoksi...

Today was te last day before few days Christmas vacation... The elfs are waiting bald and won't get ready... But I made four tablecloths for Christmas. After that I carried my sewing machine away from the diningroom. So now it may just lay back for a few days.
Today I started also knitting for my daugter some woolen socks, I hope they will be ready when Christmas Eve is here...

21. joulukuuta - 21st of December

Tonttuprojekti ei vielä valmistu täksi illaksi. Tästä syystä lisään tontun tossut... Koitan saada tontut valmiiksi huomiselle...

The elfproject is not quite ready yet, that is why I will add picture of elf's slippers... I'll try to finish my elfs for tomorrow...

20. joulukuuta - 20th of December

Vielä viimehetken jouluvalmisteluita. Lahjoja on paketoitu ja ommeltu pupusydämet valmiiksi. Ne saa joululahjaksi neljä työkaveriani. Kranssin sai tänään viimeistä päivää töissä ollut työkaverini. Tyttäreni päätti ommella lahjaksi samaisia sydämiä... eli meillä on hetken sydäntehdas...


Still a few last minutes Christmas preparations. Gifts has been wrapped and I have been sewing some rabbit-hearts. They are Christmas presents to my four colleagues. I gave the wreath today to my colleague, who was the last day at work.
My daughter started also sewing the same kind of hearts... so we have for a short time a heart-factory.

18.joulukuuta - 18th of December

Enää muutama yö jouluun. Kohta täytyy laittaa projektit kasaan, ainakin pariksi päiväksi. Vielä on tosin muutama keskeneräinen, jotka on ihan pakko saada valmiiksi... siis viimehetken lahjoja. Siispä kaivoin esiin Tilda lumiukon, joka on ollut jo kauan valmiina.

Only a few nights to Christmas. Soon I have to clean my projects away, but just for a day or two. I have to make some presents ready before I do that. Now I want to show a Tilda snowman, it has been ready for a long time.

17. joulukuuta - 17th of December

Kohta on jo jouluaatto. Kyllä jännittää! Tänään on tehty lasten kanssa joulusiivous, ja olemme tuoneet koristeita ja valosarjoja ilahduttamaan mieliämme. Joululahjoja olemme myös valmistaneet. Tänään hain pajunoksia ja tein niistä kranssin, annan sen lahjaksi työkaverilleni.

Soon it will be the Christmas Eve. It is so exciting! Today I have been cleaning our home with my girls, and we brought some decorations and lights to make our minds happier. We have been making Christmas presents aswell. I collect some willow branches , and made a wreath, I will give it to my golleague.

Tänään oli hieman väsyttävä päivä, siksi vain nämä kaksi sydäntä.

It was very exhausting day today, that's because only these two hearts.

15. joulukuuta - 15th of December

Haastoin itseni tekemään pienen Tilda-tontun. Helppoa... ei todellakaan! Vaikeinta oli kääntää kappaleet ompelun jälkeen oikeinpäin. Mutta nyt tuo tonttu ilahduttaa meitä, ja ehkä se pääsee tyttöjen leikkeihinkin mukaan!

I challenged myself to make a tiny Tilda-elf. Was it easy... definitely not! The hardest thing was to turn the pieces right side after sewing. But now this elf will make us happy, and maybe my girls will play with it!

14. joulukuuta - 14th of December

Olen tehnyt jo jokin aika sitten "valokuvausvarusteen" itselleni; heijastimen. En ole sitä vielä käyttänyt, mutta onpahan valmiina...!

I have made for some time ago a equipment for photographing; reflector. I haven't use it yet, but it's ready when I'll need it...!

13. joulukuuta - 13th of December

Sain viimein valmiiksi nuken hatut, jotka olivat olleet keskeneräisinä jo viime kesästä. Myös paljon muuta on valmistunut tämän viikon aikana... paitoja, housuja, sukkahousuja yms.

Finally I was able to finnish these hats for dolls. They have been unfinished since last summer. I have made a lot of other things ready this week... shirts, trousers, pantyhoses etc.

12. joulukuuta - 12th of December

Uusien Tilda-kirjojen innoittamana olen viikonlopun aikana tehnyt tontun. Tein siitä 40% pienemmän kuin ohjeessa, ehkä teen vielä joskus "oikean" kokoisenkin.

I was inspired by my new Tilda-books, and I made an elf. This elf is about 40% smaller than the original pattern, maybe I make someday the "real" size elf as well.

11. joulukuuta - 11th of December

Tätä kuvaa ei ole otettu tänä vuonna, mutta voisi yhtä hyvin ollakin... Mutta tämä kuvastaa mainiosti tämän hetken sääoloja... lunta, lunta, lunta... Olen tehnyt tämän Tilda-linnunpelättimen jokunen vuosi sitten ja tämä pelätti "vahtii" talomme edustalla uskollisesti.

I haven't take this picture today, but it shows the weather conditions perfectly... snow, snow, snow... I've made this Tilda-scarecrow couple of years ago and it "guards" our house faitfully.

10. joulukuuta - 10th of December

Tänään sitten olin ystäväni kanssa joulumyyjäisissä. Ja kuten kuvasta näkyy, sää oli erittäin talvinen: tuuli ja satoi lunta. Mutta meillä oli hauskaa, ja kyllä jokunen ostajakin kävi paikalla. Kuvasin mieheni kameralla myyntipöytämme, hänen kamerassaan kun on ominaisuus, joka omastani puuttuu: kalansilmäefekti.

Today I was with my friend in the christmas rummage sale. As you may see in the picture, the weather was not good for selling: windy and snowy. But we had a great time, and some customers found us too. I photographed with my husband's camera, because his camera has a neat feature, which I don't have in my camera: fish-eye effect.

9. joulukuuta - 9th of December

Sain viimein valmiiksi nämä kynsikkäät... Olivat vain peukaloa vailla, ja päättelyä tietenkin. Vielä olisi muutama pari vastaavanlaisia samassa vaiheessa, otan ne käsittelyyn ... sitten joskus!

I finally finished these half gloves... they were only missing thumbs and tieing off the loose theads...of course. Couple pairs of same kind of half gloves are still waiting for the finishing ... I'll do them later!

8. joulukuuta - 8th of December

Tänään olen jatkanut keskeneräisten valmiiksisaattamisprojektiani... olipas pitkä sana! Joten tänään lisään ystävälleni tehdyn Tilda tontun kuvan. Eilen sain kauan odottamani postipaketin kirjakerhosta. Neljä uutta Tilda kirjaa uusine projekteineen odottaa aikaa parempaa! Ehkä jo ensi viikolla...

Today I have been continuing my unfinished projects... So I will add a picture from a Tilda elf I have made to my friend. Yesterday I received a package from the on-line bookstore. Four new Tilda books with various new projects are waiting for the right time... maybe next week...

7. joulukuuta - 7th of December

Tänään on ollut hieman hulunaa ja huisketta, ja olen vain viimeistellyt keskeneräisiä käsitöitä. Toissapäivänä ostin Barbapapa-kangasta, nyt on valmiina jo neljä mekkoa.

Today has been very busy for me, so I have been only finishing unfinished projects. The day before yesterday I bought some Barbapapa fabric, and now four dolls dresses are ready.

Tänään intouduin ompelemaan nukelle tonttupukuja. Pitäähän nukellakin olla jouluksi hieno asu!

Today I made some elfs outfits for dolls. I think that, dolls should have nice outfits for Christmas too!

Päivät menevät tosi nopeasti touhutessa. Eilen bongasin tällaisia tonttuja... ja pitihän niitä sitten heti tehdä itsellekin...

Time is really flying, when you are doing this and that. Yesterday I saw elfs like these... and of course  I made some for me too...

Lapasprojekti etenee. Tällä kertaa en tehnytkään siilejä, vaan lampaat!

This time I didn't make any hedhehogs, instead I made some sheeps!

"Porsaita äidin oomme kaikki, oomme kaikki..."
Lasipurkeista tehtyjä possuja, voidaan täyttää esim karkeilla ja antaa lahjaksi.


Pigs made from glass jars. You can fill them for example with candy, and then give for a present.

2. joulukuuta - 2nd of December

Mukavaa, kun joulu on jo niin lähellä. Viikon päästä olen menossa myymään käsitöitäni myyjäisiin, tästä syystä olen neulonut lapasia ja kynsikkäitä viimeisen kolme viikkoa. Olen ihastunut tekemään siili-lapasia. Niitä on eri värisiä.

It's wonderful, that Christmas is so near. I have made some hedgehog-mittens for last three weeks. Next week I'm going to sell my handworks on a rummage sale.

Joulu se tulla jolkottaa - Christmas is near

1. joulukuuta

Mukavaa joulunodotusta kaikille. Erilaiset joulupuuhastelut täyttävät päivät tästä eteenpäin. Itse olen jo aloitellut leikkelemällä paperista lumihiutaleita. Niitä on mukava laittaa ikkunaan, vaikkei tuota lunta vielä ulkona liiemmin ole.

1st of December

It's nice to wait for the Christmas to come. Different kind of things to do. I have started by cutting some snowflaces from paper. It is wonderful to decorate windows with these snowflaces, althought outside it not so snowy as it should be this time of year.

Pari aamuista kuvaa Prahassa- A few pictures from Prague

Viime keväänä olin valokuvausmatkalla Prahassa. Nousimme siskon kanssa ennen auringonnousua ottamaan valokuvia. Tällaisia kuvia sain aikaan pokkarilla...

Last sring I was visiting Prague with my sister. We got up early in the morning before the sun came up to take pictures. These are the results with my regular camera, not SLR.

Kesäisiä kuvia - Remembering summer

Ajattelin lisätä pari kesäistä kuvaa, kun syksy jo kovasti painaa päälle... sataa ja on niin ankeaa. Kesää muistellessa tulee hyvä mieli.
Olen tyttöjen kanssa Jyväskylässä Lehtisaaressa viettämässä aikaa. Lehtisaari on seurakunnan ylläpitämä paikka, jossa saa saunoa, uida, grillata, pelata esim. salkotennistä, soutaa, meloa kanootilla, onkia, mietiskellä, rauhoittua... ja paljon muuta. Saari sijaitsee lähellä Jyväskylän keskustaa, ja seurakunnan työntekijät hakevat halukkaat vierailijat soutuveneellä saareen. Ja kaikki tämä on täysin ilmaista! Suosittelen!

Because it's a rainy and miserable fall I think it would be good to add photos from last summer... When you are remembering summer, it'll make you to feel better.
I'm with my girls spending time in Lehtisaari. It's an island located near the center of Jyväskylä. The local parish maintains this island, and you can swimm, go to sauna, grill, play differend kind of games ( like poletennis ), row, paddle the canoe, go fishing, just relaxing... and many other things. Cause it's an island, the workers will come, and get all visitors by a rowboat to the island. And all of these are free of charge!

Keväällä olin siskoni kanssa muutaman päivän Prahassa. Kuvasimme kaunista kaupunkia. Kaikki kuvat Prahasta on otettu tavallisella digipokkarilla. Minulla ei silloin vielä ollut järkkäriä. Ihan kohtuullisia kuvia saa pokkarillakin.

I visited Prague last spring with my sister. We photographed the beautiful city a few days. All pictures from Prague is taken by regular digital camera, I didn't have my SLR camera yet.

We visited an amusementpark near us, here in Central-Finland, called Nokkakivi. My girls are enjoying the speed and height!

Sudenkorento - Dragonfly

Kesämökillä laiturilla kiireettömästi kuvatessa voi saada kameran etsimeen vaikka jotain tällaista! Sudenkorento lenteli ympäriinsä ja laskeutui aina välillä kuvattavaksi.

When you have enough time, you perhaps are able to capture on your viewfinder something like this! This dragonfly flew all over the place, and then it landed once in a while for photographing.

Norsut - Elephants

Nämä on nyt virallisesti ne ekat käsinuket, jotka olen tehnyt. Mallia tihrustin tyttäreni käsinukesta. Tarkoitushan oli ommella kangasvarastoja tyhjäksi. Vaan kuinkas sitten kävikään... juuri päinvastoin. Eli kankaita on ja onhan noita nukkejakin. Ja hyvin olen niitä myynyt eri paikoissa: kirpputoreilla, kerhoissa yms. Ja hermot pysyy kurissa kun käsillä on järkevää tekemistä.
Taidot ovat ehkä jonkin verran kehittyneet vuosien varrella. Joka päivä voi oppia uutta!

These are the first handpuppets I've made. I took the pattern from my girls handpuppet. My purpose was to decrease the number of my fabrics. But what actually did happend... was just right the opposite. I have plenty of fabrics. But I have sold these puppets in several places: fleamarkets, childrens clubs etc.
My skills have improved by the years. Every day you can learn something new!
